Inside 3com OfficeConnect Wireless USB Adapter
For 20$ this cheap USB wireless card is ideal for various projects. Heres some pictures of the usb card.

The package itself includes the USB adapter, a short bendable USB extension cord (image below) , drivers and a simple user manual.
The adapter USB connector is protected with a plastic cap.
Opening is easy: Start off by using a sharp knife and pry it open. Starting from the opposite corner to the usb connector:

Below you can see the chipset wich seems to be a ZyDAS with z01211-QF printed on it.
On the lefthand corner you can see the onboard antenna and a external connector.

I am wondering what the point is of opening it up to show the chipset. I do not know alot about PCs or usbs. So how is this a do it yourself? when i looked up other 3coms they were all more then 20.00, more like 40.00 and up.

This is a do it yourself, because there is an connector.
So you can put an external antenna on it and reach a greater area.

I’m wondering what kind of connector is that, SMA? Have you tried connecting an antenna? Does it really work?

It really works… i have a pci wireless card that came with an antenna like this one… i don’t know what’s the name of the connection but it looks like a little coax
