Thanks for the information. It worked like a charm on a A31.
8 pin chip under PCMCIA, upper right hand of M/B
Slip ups that may benefit someone:
"Circuit not found" Make sure your serial port is enabled in the reading machine. DOH!
"eprom not available" Make sure you have grounded pin5 from serial cable to the circuit. (same ground in PC chassis.

Thanks again, got a usable machine instead of ebay parts!

Hi,
Thanks for great material by admin. I apriciate his afforts. My laptop IBM a22m shows HD Lock Cylinder when i power on or even i press F1 to open bios setup.
I have a question that can we reset hard disk password with supervisor password. I search about it on net that it is not possible to remove haddrive password, it must be replaced. is there no way to reset hardrive password. Can i use the above mentioned procedure to get HD password ?

I have a Lenovo X61s, the onlt ATMEL chip i can find is multi pin package marked AT97SC3203

The problem that i have is that the battery backup was removed on this machine and no one knows the administrator password and the bios and power up password has been set :-(

Is this machine scrap?

Finally! That T42P unlocked clean, per the Admin's instructions:

1.) Password is NOT set, if no 330H password.

2.) PC logo=PC pw or Cylinder logo=HD pw

3.) Drain the CMOS by unplugging the cmos battery.
Then SHORT the pins it plugs into to drain it, or it never discharges cmos!
My PC Came right up, afterward without pw anymore.

4.) Then HD Lock Cylinder Logo appeared! Tried LowLevel Format to remove HD pw. No luck,
Bad HD after testing with PC Check 6.05 Fixed by replacing HD with a spare HD.
Runs like a real fast charm... Many Thanks to Mr. Admin!!!
